As the demand for electricity is set to double by 2050 our industry has some challenging and critical work ahead, so we’re always looking for ambitious, aspiring individuals like you. Our apprentice programme will set you up as a crafts person of tomorrow and you’ll support us in delivering a vital service to the region.

Earn as you learn everything you need to know to launch your future in engineering. After three years, you’ll have a nationally-recognised qualification and be equipped with enough experience and high-quality training to take on a permanent role with us. What opportunities are available?

You can follow one of three possible career routes from a choice from three crafts:

Overhead line worker – You’ll build, maintain and repair overhead lines on wooden poles or steel towers, a critical service that our customers depend on. You’ll need a head for heights and be comfortable working outdoors in all weathers.

Cable jointer – You’ll install and join lengths of power cable together, critical to keeping our network running safely and successfully.

Electrical fitters – You’ll install, repair and maintain electrical plants, a vital job within our substations.
